national heritage site, CHIJMES (pronounced "chimes") offers an
exciting shopping, dining, leisure and entertainment experience.
Being one of the last few cloistered convents in the world, the
sprawling building with its impressive Gothic architecture and
cobblestone courtyards makes an interesting place to wander
around, particularly in the evenings.

Rodeo Drive a run for its money with a mixed range of designer

Espace Boutique and the Australian Harvey Norman is certainly
not to be missed. The biggest Duty Free Shop (DFS) in Singapore
is also located here.

is part of the Raffles City Complex which was designed by
world-renowned architect I. M. Pei. The complex also houses two
hotels, a variety of restaurants, a convention centre, the
award-winning department store, Robinsons & Co, and numerous
speciality shops such as Chinese Embroidery House on level three
and Chinese Cloisonne Centre on level one. Watches, jewellery,
electronics, optical goods and cameras are well represented.
Raffles City Shopping Centre was the winner of the 13th Tourism
Awards 1998, Best Shopping Experience - Shopping Centre.

some 70 shops in the Arcade, five are operated by Raffles Hotel
and sell good quality Raffles souvenirs, books, prints, teas and
clothes. The remaining shops sell both international brand names
and regional specialities, including fashion wear, jewellery,
timepieces, antiques, gifts and mementos at prices to suit just
about all pockets. Of interest are Thos S.B. Raffles which
specialises in gourmet food, Ludwig Reiter that sells
handcrafted and custom-made shoes, and escentials, a
personalised scent store.

of Shaw Towers, this centre is well worth the five-minute walk
down Beach Road from Raffles City past Raffles Hotel. Several of
the better-known boutiques specialising in casual clothings are
headquartered here, making it a good place to shop for casual
and sports wear. There are also a number of unusual shops
selling items from collector comics to computer games.

giant 83,850 square metre shopping mall, the largest in
Singapore, is divided into four thematic zones - Galleria,
Tropics, Entertainment Centre and Fountain Terrace. The Galleria
showcases a wide selection of famous brand names alongside
souvenir shops. Besides G2000 flagship store, Mango's largest
Asia store is also located here. Speciality shops offering home
furnishings, casual wear, lingerie and leisure products are
located in the Tropics zone. World-wide French hypermart
Carrefour boasts some of the lowest prices in town. At the
'heart' and civic core of the mall is the Fountain of Wealth,
certified as the world's largest fountain by The Guinness Book
