Carreras occupies a privileged position in the music world.
Acclaimed for the rich, natural lyricism of his voice, his meteoric
musical career resulted in early debuts at the world's most
prestigious opera theatres, including performances of "Un Ballo in
Maschera" at the Teatro alla Scala of Milan in 1975; "Tosca" at the
New York Metropolitan Opera House in 1974; and "La Traviata" at
London's Royal Opera House in 1974.
Carreras
has collaborated with the most renowned orchestras and conductors
around the world. As one of the Three Tenors, he has made an
unprecedented impact in the world of opera by singing to worldwide
audiences of over two billion in 1990, 1994 and 1998.
Described
as a "honeyed lyric tenor, richly coloured, clear and true and
possessing a sensual beauty that is quite extraordinary", Carreras'
repertoire now includes over 60 operas, as well as many favourites
from the stage and screen. Carreras has brought a distinctive
sensibility to every stage he has performed on.
Carreras
will be accompanied by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. His
programme will include popular arias.
